On Wednesday, August 19th, Silver Lake College will officially dedicate its new on campus student housing facility. Clare Hall, formerly occupied by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, has undergone extensive renovation to make way for housing up to 178 students on campus.  The building features a variety of amenities and living options, including group study areas, kitchenettes, entertainment areas, wireless internet and both individual and suite style rooms.

As part of a multi-year strategic plan, Silver Lake committed to making an exceptional residential experience available to each undergraduate during his or her time at the College.  “We view a dynamic residential experience as one of the most important elements in creating a successful environment for our students,” said Dr. George F. Arnold, President of Silver Lake.  “We believe that learning takes place around the clock, both inside and outside the classroom.  Therefore, it is essential that the ‘outside the classroom’ activities, facilities, and personnel be exceptional in every way.”

Part of the exceptional personnel includes Rachel Fischer, the new Director of Residential Life.  “I am excited about having the opportunity to help create an outstanding residential experience here on campus,” said Rachel.  “It is a chance to really build student engagement through activities and events that they (the students) view as being of real interest and value.”

In order to showcase the new facility, a community open house will be held on August 20th from 4:30 – 7:00 pm where individuals can tour the facility and take a first hand look at the residence hall.  “We are excited to invite the entire community to see this wonderful facility,” said Dr. Arnold. “Bringing this new residential experience to campus is the lynchpin in the next evolutionary step of Silver Lake College.”
